गंगा नदी

The river Ganga worshiped as the goddess Ganga in Hinduism and is the most sacred river of India. The Ganges emptying into the Bay of Bengal after flowing through 2,525 km and a lifeline to millions of Indian live along its course.

भारतीय पुराण और साहित्य में गंगा नदी की उपासना माँ तथा देवी के रूप में की जाती है , गंगा नदी को वर्ष 2008 मे भारत की राष्ट्रीय नदी एवं प्रयागराज -हल्दिया जलमार्ग को राष्ट्रीय जलमार्ग घोषित किया है!

यमुना नदी

Yamuna originate from the Yamunotri Glacier in Uttarakhand, merges with the Ganges at Triveni Sangam of Prayagraj. The Yamuna is sacred but at the same time one of the most polluted rivers in India.

सरस्वती is the third sacred river of India, Meet the Ganges and Yamuna at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. The river Sarasvati is mentioned in the ऋग्वेदा and Praise say’s:

अम्बितमे नदीतमे देवितमे सरस्वति । अप्रशस्ताइव स्मसि प्रशस्तिमम्ब नस्कृधि ॥

गोदावरी नदी

Godavari River has larger drainage basin in terms of catchment area and water discharge, second longest river after the Ganga. The river is sacred to Hindus also known as दक्षिणा गंगा or Ganga of South India, number of ancient temples on the bank of Godavari.

कावेरी नदी

Kaveri or Cauvery river flowing through Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Sacred to the people of south India and one of the seven holy rivers of India. कावेरी नदी के किनारे बसा हुआ शहर तिरुचिरापल्ली हिन्दुओं का प्रसिद्ध तीर्थ स्थान है। Cauvery river is the third largest river in South after Godavari and Krishna.

नर्मदा नदी

Narmada River rises from अमरकंटक and the longest west flowing river of India, flowing west through the विंध्य और सतपुड़ा ranges. The basin and valley of Narmada also house list of important religious places and Ghats along the course such as Amarkantak, Omkareshwar and Maheshwar.

सिन्धु नदी

Indus River is called as Sindhu सिन्धु नदी locally, originating from Lake Manasarovar and runs through Ladakh and merge into the Arabian Sea. Sindhu is one of the longest rivers in Asia also one of the largest rivers in the world.

कृष्णा नदी

Krishna river is also revered by Hindus as sacred, There are many many pilgrimage places on the course of the river. The कृष्णा river rises in the Western Ghats and one of India’s biggest river in terms of water inflows.

पम्पा नदी

Pamba River is also known as दक्षिण भागीरथी/Dakshina Bhageerathi, third longest river in Kerala after Periyar and Bharathappuzha. The Sabarimala temple of Lord Ayyappa is located on the bank of the river Pamba.

ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी

Brahmaputra river is one of the largest river in the world by discharge, Originate from मानसरोवर Lake near the Mount कैलाश and break through the Himalayas, flows through the Assam Valley, creates Sundarbans Delta before emptying into the Bay of Bengal.

The trans boundary river is also creates one of the largest river basins in the world, sacred to Hindus and only Indian river with rare male name – ब्रह्मपुत्र (son of God Brahma).

क्षिप्रा नदी

Shipra river bank in holy city of Ujjain is one of the four place in India where Sinhastha fair (कुंभ मेला) take place. The क्षिप्रा नदी is one of the sacred rivers in Hinduism and there are hundreds of Hindu shrines along the river bank.
