September to May are the best months to visit Shillong, Summers are pleasant and Shillong receives heavy rainfall during monsoon.
There are list of tourist sites in and around Shillong such as Spread Eagle Falls,Elephant Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. Meghalaya is also known for natural caves, longest is Krem Liat Prah in the Jaintia Hills and Mawsmai Cave near Cherrapunji.

Cherrapunji and Mawsynram are two wettest place on earth, located 53 km from Shillong in East Khasi Hills district. Currently Mawsynram credited as being the wettest place on Earth and Cherrapunji as most rainfall in a month.
