Landslides and Avalanches are two of the major hydro-geological hazards caused by heavy snowfall,cloudburst – flash flood and snowstorm.
These natural Calamities or disasters affect large parts of India including the Himalayan states, the Northeastern hill ranges and the Western Ghats.
2024 Wayanad Landslides – Kerala
There have been multiple landslides occurred in different villages in Wayanad district, due to torrential rains or flast flood triggered the hillsides with mud, water, and boulders cascading down to the area or villages.
2024 Ankola Landslides – Karnataka
In 2024 july there is another landslide occurred in Ankola of Karnataka and resulted in at least eight deaths. The landslide occurred in Uttara Kannada caused by torrential heavy rains and mud debris.
2024 Rampur Landslides – Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Cloudburst occurred followed by flash floods and landslides in the Samej area of Shimla district in Rampur region.
Cloudbursts in the two Himalayan states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have claimed a dozen lives and number of missing.
2023 Raigad Landslides – Maharashtra
This landslide was also caused by torrential rains in Raigad of Maharashtra and the village in the remote mountain hamlet was damaged, it was popular weekend trekking destination in Raigad.

A massive landslide was occurred in Noney district of Manipur close to the Tupul railway construction site.
2021 Mumbai Landslides – Maharashtra
It was a series of landslides that occurred in Chembur neighbourhood of Mumbai, caused by heavy rains and flooding.
2020 Pettimudi Landslides – Kerala
The landslide in the Pettimudi tea estate was a result of excessive heavy rainfall and flooding. Boulder burst during the heavy rainfall over the monsoon period, Four districts in Kerala were flooded and collectivily known as 2020 Kerala floods.
2000 Mumbai Landslides – Maharashtra
The 2000 Mumbai landslide occurred at a suburban neighbourhood located in Mumbai, Ghatkopar and residents of the Mumbai slums.
1998 Malpa Landslides – Uttarakhand
The Malpa landslide was one of the worst landslides in India when an entire village of Malpa in Uttarakhand was wiped away due to massive landslide.
2014 Malin Landslides – Maharashtra
A massive landslide occurred in the Malin village in the Ambegaon of Pune in Maharashtra, after heavy rainfall in the area.
Brahmaputra Floods occurred along the river Brahmaputra and its tributaries, 100 people killed by the flooding and landslides. 2020 Assam flood and subsequent landslides was also damage the bridges, embankments and roads.
