Western Ghats mountain ranges and mountain hills are home to number of highest mountain peaks in the Western and South India. The tallest and gallant mountain ranges and peaks include Anamudi peak,Doddabetta peak and Mullayanagiri peak in the south India states of Kerala,Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Anamudi is the highest mountain peak in the Western Ghats and also the highest point in South India, located in the southern region of Eravikulam National Park. The peak is the highest point of the Periyar river basin and highest peak in Kerala.
Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka and also the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris. The summit of Mullayanagiri is one of the best trekking places in Karnataka and South India.
Doddabetta is the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Hills in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu. The highest peak of Tamil Nadu is the third highest peak in south India next to Anamudi and Meesapulimala.
Sonsogor is the highest peak in the state of Goa and part of the Western Ghats mountain range. The peak is also called as Sonsogodd or Darsingha,located on the border of Goa with Karnataka.
Kalsubai Peak is the highest mountain peak of Maharashtra state and the entire hill is a part of Harishchandragad Kalsubai Sanctuary, located at the topmost peak of Sahyadri mountain range or Western Ghats. Salher peak of Nashik is the second highest peak at 1,567 metres (5,141 ft) after Kalsubai in Maharashtra and one of the 27th highest peak in Western Ghats.
